About Cheryl
Recognized as a leader in educational technology, Cheryl Vedoe is dedicated to helping schools integrate technology into their classrooms in ways that motivate and engage young people in learning and improve student achievement.
As president and CEO of Apex Learning, Vedoe leads the company’s efforts to make education more accessible, relevant and effective for today’s students. A champion of high standards, success for all students, purposeful use of technology and practical support for teachers and administrators, Vedoe is increasingly recognized as a dedicated and powerful force in 21st century classrooms.
Vedoe’s educational technology experience includes senior leadership roles with Apple and Tenth Planet. At Apple, Vedoe’s roles included vice president of the K-12 Education Division with responsibility for the company’s U.S. K-12 business, vice president of Education Products and Marketing, leading that division’s work with K-12 and higher education, and president of Apple’s PowerSchool division. Vedoe was also founder and CEO of Tenth Planet, a developer of innovative multimedia curriculum for elementary classrooms.
Experience with industry-leading technology companies has also shaped Vedoe’s approach to building Apex Learning, the premier digital curriculum provider for secondary education. Vedoe served as CEO of Post Communications, an early innovator in online marketing providing a unique combination of email marketing services and sophisticated technology.
Vedoe was vice president and general manager of SunConnect, a business unit of Sun Microsystems that specialized in networking technologies and products. She also was vice president of product marketing at Sun Microsystems, with responsibility for the company’s hardware and software product lines. She has held additional engineering and marketing management positions at Apollo Computer and Digital Equipment Corporation.
Vedoe holds an M.B.A. from Northeastern University and a B.A. in mathematics from Wheaton College in Norton, MA. Vedoe serves as a Trustee of Wheaton College and is on the Board of Directors for the Washington Technology Alliance.
