CES Award Winning CarMD

The only consumer electronics device and software system designed to help drivers monitor their vehicle’s health and emissions output is the CES Innovation Award winning- CarMD®

When you have a CarMD in your car it is like having a mechanic in your glovebox  and his years of experience in your PC. They can instantly diagnose the health of any 1996 or newer  vehicle using the same technology that is used by repair shops. To use it you simply plug the device into your car’s computer and in seconds, color-coded lights tell you if you have a problem. A green light gives a family peace of mind that the car is safe for traveling.

Should the car have a problem, CarMD  includes free updateable software that works with your Internet connection to allow you to generate a detailed diagnostic report  featuring most likely fix along with the cost estimate for repairs  to help save you time and money.

According to a study from the Travel Industry Association of America, the number of Americans choosing to take driving vacations within the U.S. may approach all-time highs. Before embarking on a long journey, you should be sure your vehicle has a clean bill of health ; however a routine vehicle check up can cost hundreds of dollars  so for people with limited budgets this isn’t always an option.

CarMD empowers the consumer and can save car owners hundreds of dollars in maintenance fees.

Our current economic conditions means that Americans are holding on to their cars longer than they have in years past.  CarMD can save families hundreds or thousands of dollars by helping find hidden problems and double-checking mechanics’ estimates --- right down to estimated parts and labor costs.  These reports can be conveniently printed from your PC.

CarMD is not only the perfect tool to ensure your car’s health prior to your trip, but it is also a convenient tool to take along with you in the event a warning light or problem surfaces along the journey.  CarMD gives you peace of mind whether you’re 80 miles from the next rest stop, or in the waiting room of a garage 1,000 miles from home  with the ability to call toll-free 888.MyCarMD to get a diagnosis on how severe the problem is right over the phone.

CarMD can actually save you a trip to the mechanic—perhaps the check engine light is on simply because your gas cap is not completely sealed—CarMD will tell you this.

According to a Harris Interactive(R) survey, 10 percent of U.S.  drivers are driving a vehicle with a check engine light on  and fully half of these people have ignored the light for 3 months or more ! Driving with this light on is not only damaging to the environment, but it also is harmful to the vehicle and  could potentially compromise its safety.

Additionally, if you are shopping for a used car it can help assure that you don't get stuck with a real lemon.

About CarMD

The vision began in 1997 with a conversation between automotive aftermarket industry veteran Ieon C. Chen and ASE Master Technician Keith Andreasen, both of Innova Electronics Corp., a leading developer of test equipment for the automotive aftermarket. They shared a dream of providing consumers with a simple way to diagnose their vehicles’“Check Engine” light as easily as checking their tire pressure or oil levels.

With that goal in mind, they began researching and developing a product that would give drivers safe, simple access to their vehicle’s computer and the ability to diagnose and process that vehicle’s health  just like a mechanic with years of experience.

In 2003, the “CarMD” name was registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office, and the first of several U.S. patents on the tool were granted.

Meanwhile, with the increased popularity of the Internet, the company’s vision expanded to include an online resource with which consumers could quickly and easily learn more about their vehicles and their maintenance.

By 2004, a team of ASE-certified technicians, master technicians, computer software engineers, consultants and associate repair shops were completing a database to “consumerize” the information that until then only mechanics could understand.

Today, the CarMD handheld tester and online database are re-shaping the way consumers diagnose their vehicles’ health and enabling them to extend the life and efficiency of their cars.

The mission of Fountain Valley, California-based CarMD.com Corp. is to empower consumers by providing them with the tools and information they need to make better-educated decisions about their vehicle’s health and maintenance.
