Some of the Points Neil and Craig Discussed

COOL-ER is the eBook reader designed for publishers, authors and bookstores seeking viable e-publishing avenues plus the readers who want to buy, read and share eBooks using an elegant, gorgeous device. With wholesale eBook sales in the USA alone of $100 million in 20081, COOL-ER is the smaller, more affordable, lighter and faster alternative that millions of readers have been waiting for.

COOL-ER has sufficient storage space for hundreds of books and can read any EPUB formatted eBook, in addition to PDF, TXT or JPG files. Readers can adjust the size of text on the page, which provides maximum reading comfort on the 6” E Ink Vizplex™ screen, even in direct sunlight.

COOL-ER weighs 6.3 ounces—1 ounce less than a paperback and half the weight of other e-readers—and is only 8.6 mm thick. It comes in eight fantastic colors. COOL-ER works in any country, accommodates eight languages, and runs for 8,000+ page-turns on one battery charge. COOL-ER’s retail price is significantly lower than other devices.

COOLERBOOKS.com is the largest e-bookstore on earth—with more than 750,000 books and where readers can search and view by multiple criteria, including genre, price, author and publisher. Books purchased from COOLERBOOKS.com are in many formats, but primarily EPUB, and are downloaded directly to the user’s device of choice and, best of all, shareable.

COOL-ER gives publishers, authors and bookstores a viable e-publishing avenue, and with companion site COOLERBOOKS.com, readers search and view more than three quarters of a million titles by criteria including genre, price, author and publisher. Books purchased from COOLERBOOKS.com are in EPUB format, and can be downloaded directly to the user’s device of choice and shared with other readers.

Weighing in at just over six ounces (one ounce less than a paperback book and almost half the weight of other e-readers) and at about 1/3 of an inch thick, COOL-ER is significantly lighter than other readers. COOL-ER is useable anywhere in the world, with books available in eight languages and in eight vibrant colors. Presently, eBook users are forced to buy books from a single source, whereas COOL-ER readers are free to purchase books from any seller whatsoever.

COOL-ER readers preserve the environment and reduce their carbon footprint by around 90 percent. Its display technology has the advantage of only needing power use to turn pages. Batteries will run for weeks without needing to be recharged. A single charge will last for 8,000 page turns, which is equivalent to reading War & Peace five times. COOLERBOOKS.com is the first online eBook store dedicated to providing readers easy, affordable and instant access to more than 750,000 books, from today’s bestsellers to the classics of yesteryear. Books are not limited to only COOL-ER usage, and readers can search for books according to the e-reader that they own.

Users upload titles in EPUB, TXT, JPEG, or PDF formats to COOL-ER. COOL-ER’s E Ink Vizplex™ screen mimics a book, and thus can be viewed at any angle, and even in direct sunlight. The user can also adjust the size of the text to provide maximum reading comfort. COOL-ER holds one gigabyte of built in storage and has a Secure-Digital (SD) expansion card slot for additional storage. COOL-ER users can enjoy a built-in MP3 player—and listen to thousands of audio books or learn a new language with one of the more than 40 language courses that will be available soon from COOLERBOOKS.com.

About Neil

After leaving the business he sold to Dun & Bradstreet, entrepreneur Neil Jones wrote a novel—and not a bad one, at that. When he went to get it published, he was held up by endless processes and mammoth bureaucracy. Coupling his frustration as an independent author with all the knowledge of the unfulfilled potential of electronic books and the gadgets on which to read them, Jones recognized an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create an “iPod moment” for e-readers. Thus Interead was born, and Jones rallied and gathered an experienced team to create COOL-ER – the elegant, affordable e-reader, along with COOLERBOOKS.com, the world’s largest online bookstore with more than one million eBooks.

And just like that, in assessing the current offerings from corporate behemoths, Jones created an e-reader and companion bookstore built around the needs of readers—not technologists —and is now pursuing this vision to the fullest. Jones proved himself a smart and calculated risk taker. In 2002, he took out a mortgage on his home and founded the companies N2Check and Checksure. Through these companies, he created innovative approaches to supplying credit reporting information and thus challenged long-established and well known brands. In 2007, Jones sold his brainchild to Dun & Bradstreet in a widely reported deal.

Following a successful retail banking career with NatWest culminating in 1995, Jones became a much-sought-after financial services consultant, holding positions with Cap Gemini, Sema Group, Mummert, and Entranet. In the UK General Election of 1997, Jones fought for a seat in the UK’s Parliament to represent Stoke-on-Trent Central.

He graduated from the University of York with a BA with Honors in Economics. He is an avid rugby, cricket and soccer fan and currently resides in Spain with his wife and two daughters.

About Interead

COOL-ER and COOLERBOOKS.com were created by entrepreneur, author, avid reader and world traveler Neil Jones on the very day he recognized that the time for an “iPod moment” for e-readers was now. Tired of e-readers that are unwieldy, expensive and restrict readers’ choice and ability to share books, Jones designed COOL-ER as the ideal smaller, more affordable, lighter and faster e-reader that is compatible with how we live and work today.
