Some of the Points Chad and Craig Discussed

The FlameDisk is an eco-friendly charcoal alternative that grills faster, cleaner and more safely than charcoal

Food cooked on the FlameDisk tastes just as good as it does when cooked on charcoal or propane thanks to the FlameDisk’s unique smoker plate

The FlameDisk grills faster than charcoal because you can cook on it one minute after you light it (there’s no need to wait 20 – 30 minutes for it to heat up as with charcoal)

The FlameDisk burns for roughly 40 minutes before going out – and cools to the touch in minutes (charcoal manufactures suggest waiting 48 hours before disposing of charcoal coals and ash)

The FlameDisk burns clean – producing no soot or ash and emits 99% less carbon monoxide and 91% fewer VOCs (volatile organic compounds) than grilling with charcoal

It’s easy to use: just peel off the lid, place the FlameDisk in the grill, light it with the included matches and in one minute you’re ready to start grilling

The FlameDisk costs roughly $4.99 and is available in supermarkets and hardware stores across the country as well as online athttp://www.FlameDisk.com

The FlameDisk was featured on Fast Company’s “Summer Lust List” of hot new products they want to play with in 2009

About Chad

Part entrepreneur, part inventor, part grilling guru. This 33-year-old grew up playing with prototypes in Blaine, Minn. and pursued his love for innovation at the University of Wisconsin. As a college student, Chad developed his first major product, a wireless fertilizer monitor for agricultural applications, and then sold the company for $1.5 million just 18 months after graduating. Today Chad is pursuing his interests at Sologear, LLC, a Madison, Wisc. company that recently launched the FlameDisk, an eco-friendly charcoal alternative.

Chad has grilled for more than 1,000 people (with a little help from friends and a lot of help from his new invention). When he’s not cooking for the community, he’s giving back to it. Chad sponsors the Sorenson Design Notebook Award for UW engineering students and has a wealth of speaking experience as an avid guest lecturer. Chad also experiments with unique grilling recipes in his spare time—you should try his prawn kabobs, they’re delish!
