Some of the Points Paul and Craig Discussed

1. The Sun Oven is 100% “Green” The Sun Oven requires no fuel other than the power of the Sun. It cuts cooling costs in the home while saving the environment with its zero emissions design.

2. Where do you use a Sun Oven? The Sun Oven is perfect for a family picnic, a camping trip or just to keep in case of an emergency. It is also a complete kitchen oven alternative. Almost every pan you already use for your oven will easily fit in the Sun Oven. It can reach temperatures up to 400 degrees F.

3. What does it look like? Is it heavy? The Sun Oven only weighs 21 pounds. It folds up to dimensions of 19” x 19” x 15” and easily expands for quick set up. No tools necessary!

4. Food cooked in a Sun Oven vs. BBQ and traditional Oven: Food tastes even better when cooked by the sun. With the Sun Oven, there are no worries about the food burning, drying out or being contaminated with harmful fuel remnants. The Sun Oven is designed to keep all of the moisture from the food right where it belongs.

5. Upcoming Solar Cooking Challenge Sun Ovens has issued a challenge to the citizens of Utah to cook 50,000 meals with only the power of the Sun from June 25 – July 1. Sun Ovens hopes to increase awareness of the environment and energy conservation in this highly polluted state.

About Paul

Paul Munsen is president of Sun Ovens International, an Illinois-based company that manufactures solar ovens for use in 126 countries, from Haiti to Ghana, Afghanistan to Sri Lanka, North America to North Korea. He has had to take out a mortgage on his own home to keep the business going, but could never abandon ship now. 2 billion families on the planet depend on wood, charcoal and other fuels to cook their food. According to Population Action International, nearly one in three people live in countries considered to have critically low levels of forest cover. Each minute, there are 200 more people on the planet and 50 acres less forest. Paul says, "By harnessing the sun's rays, our ovens offer a free, reliable, nonpolluting energy source."

Paul Munsen is the president of Sun Ovens International, which produces the Global Sun Oven and the Villager Sun Oven.

About Sun Ovens International

SUN OVENS® were developed in 1986 by Tom Burns, a retired restaurateur from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who was very active with Rotary International. From his experience in operating restaurants he knew a great deal about cooking and from his international travel he became aware of the ever-growing problem of deforestation. Tom took a concept that has been around for centuries and engineered into it more recently developed materials to produce the world’s most effective solar cooking devices. With the help of the Sandia National Laboratories the oven was refined.

From 1986 to 1997 SUN OVENS® were made and marketed by Burns Milwaukee, Inc. Thousands of portable models have been shipped to more than 126 countries around the globe. SUN OVENS® have helped feed refugees in relocation camps, natives in remote Third World villages, workers at field sites, climbers on the slopes of Mount Everest, and soldiers during the Persian Gulf War.
